Three decades back, all of the attention was on the size of an influencer's audience -- how many Instagram"followers" they had. Brands and marketers alike assumed with more followersmeant more earned for each dollar invested, so they thought.
An ER measures how much of an audience is engaged using an influencer's content. A low ER is a reason for concern, however the cause of which might be a range of things.
Before I tell you how you can increase your ER, I'll lay out a few of the main aspects in what can cause it to be reduced.
To compute your ER, you can use among the free Instagram tools like the MightyScout engagement rate calculator. It is calculated by adding together your remarks and likes and dividing it from your follower count -- normally given as a result of the ordinary ER over the previous 30 posts.
While a 2.5% ER for an influencer with 2,500 followers could be considered low, it'd be considered ordinary for one with more than a thousand followers. That said, let us look at some industry benchmarks. Below is a guideline to get an influencer with 10,000 followers:
Less than 2 percent = Low participation rate.
Above 4 percent = High engagement rate.
What's your engagement rate important?
As I said, marketers value this metric and maintain it high when assessing what they will offer you, or even if they will contact you in the first location. A bad ER means they're placing their marketing dollars in danger. Whether you utilize Instagram for business, or on your own, upping your ER should be top of mind.
Top 6 Ways To Raise Your Engagement Rate
Grow your viewers with authentic followers
Among the simplest ways to grow your follower count is by follow along with refollow, which I laid out in my guide on growing your own follower count. Though, this approach should not be relied on as your heart growth plan as it attracts the majority of robots and other influencers that are simply just after and unfollowing.
I believe building your account to obtain more social signals is important. Having over 10,000 followers gives you more standing. When real Instagrammers land in your profile, they will be more likely to follow you.
If you watched my movie about the best way to increase your follower count, you'd have noticed that engaging on niche hashtags with personalized comments and a strong call-to-action to follow you, is one of the best ways to grow an authentic audience which appreciates the content you create for them.
2. Increase the quality of your content
Definitely among the most crucial elements in increasing your ER is the quality of your content. Make sure that each photo you post is bright, crisp, and exciting. Additionally, it is no secret that even Instagram captions are crucial to creating engaging content. The caption you write should also include at least one question (rather since the first sentence).
Should you overlook your creative ability to curate high quality content, collect inspiration from other powerful influencers. Adhere to those that you hope to be like and also get started mimicking the content they create, right down to what's in the backgrounds of their photos and what Instagram filters they use. Great, replicate it.
As you might not consider yourself creative or artistic right now, you can copy people who are until you yourself are.
You have the answers to the exam, all you need to do is copy them onto paper.

If you're a student of ours, then you will have seen me preach again and again on providing value for your audience. I have mentioned it before and I will mention it again; people don't care about you, they only care about what you could do for them.
Family and friends aside, strangers will only be drawn to you if they think you can provide them value. Be it entertainment, business training, fitness ideas, or tech recommendations -- you have to decide what skill set you have that others may benefit from.
Whenever your audience looks to you for help and advice on a specific topic, they'll obviously be more in tune with your content. I use this example a Good Deal, and for good reason:
You are a fashion influencer that specializes in supplying affordable fashion advice to working and lower class folk. Your audience loves your articles and seeks your advice -- you supply them value.
However, most fashion influencers just share their favorite outfits in too staged photos with simple post captions. There's nothing that creates that influencer unique and their audience's interest in them frequently stops at appearance.
If you are struggling to find a means to give value, begin by becoming a student of your craft. As you create content and grow your own audience, engage in Facebook classes, masterminds, and subreddits. They say you're the topic of the five people you spend time with -- why can not one of those five be whole communities in your area of interest or expertise?
When you are feeling confident enough to start teaching others your craft, integrate it in your content. You can even utilize Instagram Stories to survey our audience to learn what kind of content they'd discover valuable.
5. Archive or delete low engaging posts
Quick, simple, and simple. Sort through your articles and archive (or delete) any that either doesn't match the aesthetic of your page, or received low involvement. This will instantly increase your ER since these posts will no longer be skewing your numbers.

You likely use hashtags already, but just how much consideration do you give to which ones you use? The reason hashtags work for many people is because they already have a large account and can appear from the'Top Articles' for that market, or they are smart and More information choosing market hashtags.
Instantly after you upload a post, glue them inside the very first remark.
When building your own bank of hashtags, focus on those with between 50,000 and 500,000 unique tags, as in, the number of times those hashtags are put to use in a comment or post. If you pick only those which have been used millions of times, you'll only show up at'Recent' to get a few minutes before you are too far down the feed for anybody to find you.

7. BONUS: Join engagement pods*
Engagement pods are Immediate Message (DM) groups of influencers of up to 32 individuals, who will each share their posts to the team to have the other members go into enjoy and comment on their articles.
It is possible to discover these pods by appearing on Reddit or within Facebook Groups. They're easy enough to locate within a couple of minutes. Make sure that you're active in them, liking and commenting on each member's articles.
While these can be powerful, they do have their downfalls. It is common practice to article generic comments like"OMG I want this" on group member's sponsored articles, which is easily spotted by manufacturers. When the only people commenting on a post are other influencers, it's clear that they are busy in engagement pods.
They will also be time consuming since you will frequently have to enjoy and comment on dozens of posts each day. Who would like to open their Instagram program and find they have 87 articles that they need to like and comment on? Not I. If I were you, I'd only use them to kickstart your growth and then ditch them after you have momentum.
What's the buzz about Instagram automation applications?
Don't. Can Instagrammers not learn their lesson if Instagram banned millions of accounts for purchasing likes and comments? These Instagram bot automation tools are not only expensive, they do not promise any results and are frequently run by 17 year old, self-proclaimed marketing gurus. They're also against Instagram's Terms of Service, so there's a higher risk of being caught in one of their mass account cleanups they perform a few times per year.
How do you prefer to right here spend all of the time and money developing an Instagram account through automation tools, only to open the program one day and see that your account has been banned? I really don't imagine you would find that enjoyable.
It retains potential to make you more than the usual 9--5, at a portion of this time. Soak up as much info as possible online, place these practices into place, and have patience.
